Typically, there are 5 different face shapes. They are Oval, Long, Round, Heart and Square Face shapes. Which one is yours? Lets find out.
To figure out your face shape, you will first need to measure your face. Use a tape measure. Here are the measurements you need.
1. Measure across the forehead at the widest area. Write down the measurement.
2. Measure the jaw area from one side to the other, at the widest area. Write down the measurement.
3. Measure across the cheekbones. Write down the measurement.
4. Measure from the top of the forehead, where the hairline is, to the tip of the chin.
These measurements will help you know which face shape you have.
OVAL FACE:
The length of the face will equal to one and one half times the width.
Cheekbones are slightly prominent.
Forehead is slightly wider than the chin.
It will have a gradual tapering to the chin.
The forehead may have a gently rounded hairline.
LONG FACE:
It is longer than it is wide.
The forehead, cheekbones, and jaw line have similar measurements.
It has a long appearance.
Sometimes, there will be a noticeable prominent chin.
The long face generally has a high forehead.
ROUND FACE:
The face is usually about as wide as it is long.
The cheek area is usually the widest.
It is full looking, with a round chin.
HEART FACE:
It generally has a narrow jawline, with more width at the cheekbones and forehead.
The chin may taper to a gentle point.
The chin is narrower than the oval face shape.
SQUARE FACE:
It is usually about as wide as it is long.
The forehead, cheekbones, and chin are all about the same in width.
The strong square jawline is the most noticeable feature, usually coming to a point.
General Rules for Hair Cuts with Face Shapes.
Use volume or width where the face narrows.
Reduce width where the face widens.
As your hair moves forward on your face, if not correctly balanced, it can age or emphasize unflattering features.
Your lifestyle, body shape, and personality will determine the best hair cut for you.
The texture of your hair; fine, medium or coarse, will determine the way hair responds to styling and finishing.
